Celebrating Lughnasadh

What a glorious day! Sun shine (probably too dam humid but I'm not complaining) and the Lughnasadh festival that helps us see the slowing of summer (southern hemisphere) and the preparation for autumn. Summer was a later starter for us here and then it bit with a vengence bringing 3 heatwaves in close proximity. Now we bask in the wonderful warmth and make the most of it before the leaves start turning.

The Oak bonsai tree that the 2008 Outer Court students gave me sufferred terribly in the heatwaves and lost every leaf that graced it's tiny but majestic frame. I worried that the heat had killed it but 3 weeks later new leaves are growing like crazy, new branches are sprouting and it has never looked more healthy. Amazing how nature can bring on her extremes, virtually kill her children and then regenerate as though nothing had happened. What a blessed mother she is!
Smiles and blessings, Amethyst
