can't access new posts to old thread
Hi!
Josephus started a thread on Gerald Gardner, to which Butterfly Spirit, Amethyst, and I responded. I see in the thread index that there are two new responses, most recently David Michael's, but whether I click on the "new posts" button or on the thread title button, I am taken to the beginning of Josephus' original post, I can see no additions after mine, and it says "LogIn/Register" at the top of the page, as though I were not logged in--but I am! I would love to read what others have added. Can anyone suggest how to get around this glitch?
Thank you!

Hrm.
I've noticed that the coding on this site seems a little different from the norm. I experimented a bit with things and found that it all depends upon exactly what page I came from before. As such, always using http://www.oakandmistletoe.com.au/forum for the forum works fine for me, but if I go to it via clicking community, it gets quite confused. If you try through the link I gave you, and then going straight to the threat in question (since it is the last one under general topics, and so instantly clickable), does it work?
Ah, thanks for your
Ah, thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately that link doesn't bring up the updated post: it's no longer the most recent in that forum.
I think the whole problem started when I couldn't log in properly: a pink banner across the login page said "unable to parse link". But my frustration has led me to discover an indirect way to get onsite that usually works when this happens, allowing me to read and post, but because I'm not officially there, the site won't keep track of what I have and haven't read...it's stuck at the moment in which it found itself unable to parse the link. I probably had gotten on site through the back door when I posted my bit on the GG thread. Maybe I won't be able to get to the updates there until the next unparsable link occurence/wormhole in time.
I don't speak computerese, sorry.
Hrm.
I don't suppose you've cleared out your 'cookies', then? (Oh wow, do I wish I had some *REAL* cookies right now!) What is your web browser (Internet explore, Firefox, etc)?
I use Firefox, and keep it
I use Firefox, and keep it updated, if that's useful information. Uh, when I eat cookies there's never any crumbs. Not sure I understand this "clearing the cookies" procedure, and the self-help index doesn't seem to cover the symptoms I'm experiencing. Is clearing cookies like clearing recent history? I did that recently, and as a result the computer forgot my passwords etc. Not the end of the world, but defeats the purpose of remembering them...? And it didn't stop the problems for long, if it stopped them at all.
Um, you mention you walk across the Thames...there's only one Thames, and it's 4am there at the time of your above post! I do appreciate your assistance, but not at the expense of your sleep!
Very cool to "meet" you by the way, and very informative posts you've made already, in the general discussion forum!
Doh
Yeh, Clear Recent History deletes the cache (stored images/instructions from websites/etc) and cookies (stored settings, login status, etc) at the same time, which is similar to what I was going to suggest. In theory, it should reset any problems with websites that have occured through browser errors, user settings or website faults. To be honest, I'm not sure offhand what else would be the cause :(
I'm trying not to make all the posts I can too quickly. I've got Panentheism and all the other variants and lesser known isms in mind, to see how others view these things! But that can wait!
Insomniacy bites. I'm not sleeping today. I'll probably get tired around midday/the evening, just in time for my psychology class. Big whoop, yo!
Nice to meet you too :)
Edit: PS, there's more than one Thames! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thames_%28disambiguation%29
Eeks, right you are! But the
Eeks, right you are! But the Thames....
Anyhoo, I think I'll only clear the history when there's a problem, rather than reinventing the wheel each time I fire up the computer. I thank you for your assistance in terms I can understand! And now it's time I call it a night.
