Connecting with Deity, Connecting with Ourselves: Either/Or or Each to their Own?

Hello

I wanted to pose a question to the forum and wide Wiccan world out there. I am seeking out new strategies for connecting with deity. I can fall sometimes in the gap between connecting with deity and knowing that we are all connected and so connecting with deity is connecting with Self. And when I feel too busy to connect with Deity but I am happy in myself, I still sometimes feel like I didn't do it.

I want to know, if you are willing to share, how do you connect with deity and what are your thoughts around this conep. Do you appeal to a specific deity, or different ones depending on your mood? Or do you just spend time quiet with yourself and find this is enough to make you feel connected in general?

I appreciate your insight and hope to find a way to make it work for me-starting with making the time obviously.

Hello. Well, I do connect

Hello.

Well, I do connect with deity often. However, which deities I fellowship with aren't dependent upon mood. First of all, I do subscribe to the "River of Blood" notion. The blood that flows through my veins (by virtue of DNA) is the same blood that flowed through the veins of my ancestors. As I have traced that back to at least ancestral blood spilled at Culloden, and before that, Western Europe, I approach members of the Celtic pantheon. But, it's more than just that: I research who the particular god or goddess is, because I don't want to disrespect the Morrighan by approaching her like I would Brighid, if ya know what I mean. When generalization is called for, it still is boiled down to "The Great Horned One of the Wylde Wood," and "The Lady of the Silver Round."

And no, I don't cross pantheons. I have no Semitic, African, or Asian DNA tags (yes, that stuff can be tested for.) So, I don't feel any reason to involve myself with deities from those cultures. (I love Native American stuff, but haven't we stolen enough from them?)

Connecting with Deity

Hello. Yes. I seem to have the same issues myself. (Sorry, I must not be focusing at the moment, but I can't find your name : )  )  Thanks for your sharing Cinaed. I really should do my research, and develop my relationship with Deity. I get that Deity is always there. I do feel that. It's rather as though I am having a chat in a coffee bar and not really connecting on a deeper level. It's great that I have come to see that today. Thanks folks.

Blessed Be Jill
