Made with love !
have just spent a lovely afternoon with my daughter. Browsing the nurseries for a couple new herbs for my garden and making her a special spirit candle for her to use in her attempts at meditation. We also had our first attempt at making smudge sticks. I know white is usualy used to represent spirit but she really wanted a purple one and purple does connect with spirituality soooo,....... what the heck its not like she will be using it in ritul. I think they turned out really well and we had a great time.

Fantastic Destertwoman!
What a productive afternoon! The candle looks sensational and I love the smudge sticks!

smudge sticks
hello!
Your smudge sticks look fantastic- and your candle! How did you make the smudge sticks? Did you grow your own white sage? Or did you buy it from a supplier? Did you mix any other herbs in or just sage?
Big smiles, Lisa : )
Hi lisa, I have read about
Hi lisa,
I have read about methods for making smudge sticks but this was my first attempt! It turned out to be as easy as most people said it would be you simply cut some sprigs off the herb you want to use off your bush and layer them together with the string /cotton.. You roll a few pieces together, wind the cotton around it, then layer some more, then wind the cotton again. I did use a small ritual of blessing my smudge stick with my spirit candle ( which i also had burning while i worked ) I brought the cotton from a $2 shop. but made sure that it would burn ( cotton ) and that i used the appropriate colour. I made them both with Lavander and white sage. I did grow the white sage myself ( it gows really well here if you keep the water up to it ! ) and the lavander is a new plant i brought for my garden. So hopefully it will be a plant i grow for myself lol ! Hope this answers your question Lisam

Thanks
Thanks! Im gonna do some research and see if I can grow white sage where I am, so I can make my own too. I love the idea of making my own stuff- it just is so much more personal, and I like growing useful plants. Thanks again, big smiles, Lisa : )

I have basil growing my garden in huge abundance ! I thought to try it with the sage or lavander but i wasnt sure what the combination would be like ! What do you use Basil for ?
love your project!
I really love your project Desertwoman! And what a beautiful thing to do with your daughter :) Very Special ♥
I loooove basil, it is my most used herb, I create spells and kitchen recipes all the time with it regardless of it's "universal" purpose. I just love basil. It is great for connecting with loved ones ♥ protection ♥ succes ♥ maintaining honesty ♥ everything you would want in your life!!! but that's just my uses... I looooooooove Basil, - did I say that already lol, it's my favourite! Use Basil With Everything! heehe.

I dont know if you get on
I dont know if you get on Facebook much but you should have seen my satus last night! i went to prune one of my basil bushes and have it drying everywhere now! do you use it fresh ? of dried ? This is my first time drying myown i usually onlyuse my basil in my cooking and salads. But if it works and you can use it dry ill send some your way !
Basil
Thanks for your offer but I too have Basil growing, I re-seed it myself, sometimes it grows sometimes it doesn't, always leave a few heads and let them go to seed, cover with a paper bag just before they are about to fall off and a week later chop the seed head off and store for the next time your ready to plant! Walla! no need to buy seeds!
Use basil dry as well, hang at the front of your door occasionally, I hang just a little bit fresh next to my bridgets cross, and when it's too dry and yucky I replace it with a new one and burn the old one, mix it up with some fresh incense to burn maybe. Scatter around the doorways outside and leave for a while and then sweep away to keep good things coming your way. I must write a list of all the things I use basil for - other than in recipes because that would be rediculous I use it in probably 99% of cooking. You know what I always have trouble growing for some reason.... Dill!! Don't know why, it should be very easy, but not for me???? I keep trying though, It won't beat me haha... When I get a list of Basil uses going I'll post you, It would be hand for my BoS herbs, but it will take me a while so you'll probably beat me to it anyway. Chat soon xxxx
