you just have to laugh
Happy fullmoon every one,
Now it is late and I should go to bed but just have to share my FM ritual with you. One of those well you may as well laugh about it ones.
So to give you a image I live in a 2 bedroom apartment that dose not really have a good space to cast a circle but I make do. In summer with it being so hot I normally cast in the lounge room which means the cycle actually goes through the couch, wall, book cases etc there is not that much space.
Well tonight my boys (dogs) decided that they wanted to join me (or it may have just been that the lounge is the room with the air con) and made themselves comfortable on the floor of the lounge as i set up my temporary alter (a card table with a wonderful cloth hiding it given to me by another O&M member). So all that done and I am ready to start. Then comes actually casting the circle, build up the energy only to take 2 steps and trip over one dog, then another 3 steps and trip over the other one, few more steps and now Blu is under my feet again trying to work out were I am not going to step, takes a little wile but get the first circle done only to have the same problem when putting the salt water on the circle. By now at least one of my boys has given up and left to go to bed. Ritu in the mean time has taken up the prime position in the center of the circle.
OK now comes the incense, as some of you may have read in a previous post of mine last FM was my first attempt at using a charcoal burner which I did not do very successfully. I have now had some practice and feeling much more confident. Ok so I have already lit the charcoal and it looks nice and hot, humm, burner feels nice and hot to.....test with finger.....OUCH.......yep it is hot and way to hot to touch. How am I going to carry that around the circle???? Then another thought....It is sitting on a plastic card table with only a thin cloth between it and heat and plastic do not mix.....forget to cut door in circle just run for a tea fowl that I can pick up the burner with and put a lot more padding between it and the table. What other little things could go wrong.
Easy, my mind can go blank after only saying a few word when invoking the elements, many trips between BOS and each quarter later and I have finally the circle is cast and the elements, Lord and Lady probably standing there saying "well she is trying, and we know she can do this so lets give her a smile and enjoy the ride".
Ok so after all that and a little chuckle at myself and a few deep breaths I finally do start to get some thing right. Next month I am leading the SL FM ritual and we are exploring Yggdrasil the Norse tree of life. I have had a bit of an idea for a vis to support next months FM ritual so I cleared my mind and let the energy take me were they wanted the vis to go and it was just fantastic. Can not wait to let every one explore were I went tonight next month.
So then after a quick thank you and good thoughts for all of the members of O&M I closed the circle only tripping over the dogs once and this time not having to keep looking at my BOS.
Hope every one that has done a ritual tonight enjoyed it and that if anything that was not meant to happen did that you were able to laugh about it.
Full Moon blessings
Crystal

Thanks
Merry Meet Crysatl,
Thanks for the chuckle! Often we have to go back to our BOS to remember how a ritual went, but this is one you won't forget. It is great when our furry children take part, cause sometimes we have to stumble to really know where we are going. Have to say my FM was not as exciting as yours.

Crystl, that's made my night.
Crystl, that's made my night. Sorry your ritual didn't go to plan, but twas very funny (although I'm sure it wasn't to you at the time). I'm lucky enough to be able to do my rituals in the open outdoors (tonight was just in our yard - we live on an acre). LC (my Little Cat) always walks my circles with me, staying just inside and then sits in the centre looking bemused til I'm finished. My kids, on the other hand just roll their eyes and vacate the area. The older two used to participate when they were younger, but they are teenagers now and find doing anything with us "oldies" just completely tedious and far too much effort. Master 11 has taken part in the past, but these days just watches from the sidelines. He does like to set up the alter and measure out the circle for me prior to ritual. He has cut himself a "circle string". Just a piece of string with a tent peg on one end and a pointy stick on the other to mark out a perfect circle for casting. He has told me that my magik won't work if my circle isn't perfect, he's sure its true because he read it in a book somewhere.....

Gotta giggle, hirlarious!
I know I;ve done things like set fire to the sleeves of my robes, the dogs have been curious about candles and ended up with wax all over thier droopy ears and two Samhains ago Paris ate the tiny pumpkin candles and pooped orange wax for several days!
Gotta laugh at this stuff, thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

Hi there Crystal, you have made my day!!! I would just loved to have been there with you : ) Hope your beautiful altar cloth and table are okay and your poor boys not too traumatised ......... (I know they're not : ) ) if it were mine, their minds would have been on whether there was anything they could chew for sure, or bring in to enhance the ritual eg bits of fire log, chew toys, the odd sock etc, or whoa betides me if the shortest route to the cat was across the circle : ) I am glad you shared this, I will make sure mine are locked away in future ......... just in case!!

Had to laugh out loud! Been there, done that! Once I forgot to dismiss the Quarters, and felt so bad about it for days after! I don't want to even think about cutting a hole in the circle, and probably forgetting to close it, or even forgetting to cut it in the first place! Now if I forget something...oh well - I'm not going after it! But with a hot burner, I can see why you were worried! If my cats were allowed down in the part of the basement with my altar, I can imagine the "cat"tastrophes that would ensue! The God and Goddess are for sure very patient - I'm very thankful, too! This was a great start to my day, thanks so much for sharing!
Love reading every ones
