Be brutally honest with yourself when you answer this question, just this once... please. How many times have you wanted to give your time, donate some money or say some kind words to someone but it was just too hard/too much trouble/or something else more important took over before you had a chance and then you forgot? Seriously, how many times?  

Many of us are generous in giving money and donations of goods to worthy causes and that’s a wonderful thing. Our coven does it regularly and I’m sure many of you all do it regularly too. It’s those gifts of support and help that really can make a difference in someone’s life. But there’s something else you can give too and it costs almost nothing yet delivers an incredibly powerful outcome for you and the recipient. What is this amazing thing?  Your time, your love and a pink candle. Let me tell you about the Oak and Mistletoe Pink Candle tradition. 

Back in 2008, the face to face coven students decided to start a new coven tradition. We all decided that whenever any of us needed some love, or some healing or some extra energy, we’d let each other know and we’d all burn a pink candle to send that needed love. Yeah, so what I hear you say, it’s just a candle. Well just hang on because those pink candles can change someone’s world.   

Earlier this year, one of our face to face students found a lump in her breast. Like any woman, she was initially shocked and faced a potential outcome that could change her life. In support of her, we all lit pink candles and sent her our love, our strength and as much healing energy as we could muster. Today, just a few months later, she doesn’t have cancer (in fact the lump was harmless) and she’s a healthy, beautiful and loving young woman with her whole life ahead of her. 

Of course it may not have been the pink candles that stopped the threat of cancer for her, we all know that, but it just might have been too. Even without that, the fact that we used the pink candles as a symbol of our love for her, that we sent her streams of healing energy and love through the flame, that we used the pink candles to show her she was loved, was enough to help change her outlook on what was happening and it helped to change her world. But we didn’t just change her world though, we changed the whole world.  

Showing you love someone by the simple act of burning a pink candle to send them love, healing, strength, peace or whatever can change their world and it certainly changes yours. You create a ripple effect that impacts on others. You change your world, you leave a footprint on someone else’s world and they in turn probably leave a footprint on yet another person’s world. You change the world. Love does that.  Sending your love and your healing energy through the flame of a pink candle takes so little time and so little money yet for our beloved coven member, it meant the world. It was simple, it cost almost nothing and yet we all felt better for it. We changed our world. 

So next time someone tells you they’re feeling ill, lonely, sad or facing a trauma, ask them if you can burn a pink candle for them and send them a little of what they need. Just that little gesture can change their world.
